Welcome to Submarine Hunter!
Overview In this game submarines have entered the area whose mission is to destroy one or more of the shipyards in the area. You will control anti-submarine cruisers to eliminate the submarines before they can complete their mission. The submarines will do their upmost to avoid the cruisers and complete their mission. They will attack the cruisers in self-defense or if engaging the cruisers is required to complete their mission. All mission maps were created using "NASA World Wind."
The cruisers are controlled using this computer terminal. The left panel accesses all the cruiser's control systems. The right panel contains a passive sonar display and a depth to keel display. When a cruiser is launched the top panel changes to three seperate panels. The right panel is where you select the ship to issue commands to. The left panel lists the latest passive sonar readings. The middle panel contains mission status information. The terminal screen, which you are reading now, changes based on what ship control system is active. To see what missions are available to you enter the [Theater of Operation] (T-op) system. The T-op screen has three options you can use to get familiar with control of the cruisers and the displays on the terminal screen: * Standard Mode - This mode is the default mode, defend the bases at all costs * Training Mode - This mode loads a training map and computer generated opponents * Cruiser Trials Mode - This mode activates all systems for a cruiser and lets you run trials on a single cruiser, great for learning cruiser controls. Good Luck Captain!
Update: 11/13/2022 -- Cruiser Trials game set up is working, and all users input screens are functional. Still in development so expect it to be a bit buggy. Sonar Buoys are now functional. They will launch and will return sonar data. The [ABORT MISSION] and [END TURN] options are functional. You should be able to click [THEATER OF OPERATION], select Cruiser Trials, a difficulty level (most testing done with beginner), then click [LOAD MISSION]. On the next screen you can click [LAUNCH MISSION] to begin a game. One Bug I need to fix: After the game starts click on the URL and hit enter to cause a saved game load. Then you will be able to play. I will be adding a Ship heading data above the persistent sonar display on the right. *COMP* I will be updating the crew and terminal messages so they are consistent. Currently it can be confusing with me using heading/bearing in different displays. All displays with change to bearing; the angular location base on a ship's bow. I am working on the [OPERATIONS MANUAL] with screen shots and detailed information to help with understanding the game. Click on the button to view the latest revision of the manual.
